Over 11,000 girls and women are expected to participate.

2003-05-07

Germanys largest womens run will take place on Saturday, May 24. Last year, 9,426 women and girls from 28 countries participated in this event in the Tiergarten park. Naturally, there is a big increase in participation this year, as well. The organisers from SCC- RUNNING already have received over 3,000 more registrations than last year. Over 11,000 girls and women are expected to participate.

The regular registration deadline is Friday, May 9. After that, registration will be more expensive. Late registration will be possible on May 22-23 at KarstadtSport in Joachimsthaler Straße 5-6 – or on the day of the event, May 24, if the limit has not yet been reached.

2 more weeks of preparatory training

The countdown has started – in two weeks Germanys largest womens run will take place. For over 4 months active women and girls have been training regularly in the Tiergarten park for the womens run. Every Saturday at 5:00 p.m., SCC-RUNNING, together with adidas and KarstadtSport, offers free training in preparation of the AVON RUNNING womens run with Dr. Detlef Kuhlmann.

Athletic women and girls, and those who would like to be, still have two more weeks in which they can train under professional supervision before the start on Saturday, May 24, 2003. Due to an ever increasing number of runners, SCC-RUNNING has moved the start and finish in this anniversary year back to the boulevard Straße des 17. Juni, near the “little star“, where the series of womens races began in 1984 on “Fathers Day“ with 645 participants.

School girls from the Berlin schools can register for the womens run through their sport teachers at the Senatsverwaltung “Schulsport und Bewegungserziehung“ (Telefon: 97 17 25 99 – Dr. Thomas Poller).
