IAAF.org: Radcliffe considers World Half Marathon Championships

She is now well over the injury and illness problems

2003-09-10

Paula Radcliffe returned to action with the second fastest time of the year around London’s Richmond Park today in the Nike 10k.

Only Radcliffe herself has run faster this year than her winning time of 30:51, which saw her finish seventh overall out of 20,000 runners around an undulating course. The European 10,000m champion was greatly encouraged by her first run since setting a World marathon best of 2:15:25 and the manner of her victory suggests she is now well over the injury and illness problems that forced her to miss last month’s World Championships in Paris and to cancel any remaining thoughts of a return to the track this year.

“Now I will step things up and if I run the World Half-marathon Championships it would at least make up for missing Paris. Winning a world title on the track was my main goal but even though I have already won the World Half Marathon twice it would still be nice to win it again. A world title is a world title.” For full article on iaaf.org - click here
