Already over 13,000 registrations for the Bewag BERLIN HALF MARATHON

2004-03-16

SCC RUNNING has already received over 13,000 registrations for the 24th Bewag BERLIN HALF MARATHON on April 4. To be exact, 13,206 runners, inline skaters, and power walkers have signed themselves up on the starting lists for the by far largest and best calibre German race over the distance of 21.0975 km. That is slightly more than at the same time last year. In 2003, a total of 17,692 athletes participated in the event.

The probability of continued mild weather is likely to keep the number of registrations coming. One should note the next level of the registration fee. Whoever registers by Saturday will save five Euros. Until then the registration fee is 30 Euros. The fee includes a race number and the official event t-shirt. Registration is possible online on SCC RUNNING’s internet site: www.berlin-marathon.com Information is available in the running office in Glockenturmstraße 23 (Telephone: 030 - 3012 8810).

Due to the relocation of the start and finish area, the Bewag BERLIN HALF MARATHON will be even more attractive than ever. The race will start at the Zeughaus Museum on the boulevard Unter den Linden. The finish is on the “Palace Bridge” (Schloßbrücke) on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. The unique sightseeing course will pass through the Brandenburg Gate, past the Charlottenburg Palace, across Kurfürstendamm, past where Checkpoint Charlie used to be, then by the Red City Hall and finally ending up past the Berlin Cathedral and Lustgarten.
