The world championship event organised by the IAAF for the longest time is the IAAF Cross-Country World Championship. On March 19 and 20, 2005, the 33rd IAAF Cross-Country World Championships will take place in St Etienne - St. Galmier/France.

The 21-year-old Ethiopian won both distances in Brussels for the 3rd time in a row
