2. World Summit on Physical Education in Magglingen / Suisse

The meeting will be opened by Adolf Ogi, UN Special Advisor to the secretary-general on Sport for Development and Peace.

The 2nd World Summit on Physical Education will take place on 2/3 December in Magglingen.  The organisers are the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE/CIEPSS) together with its member organisations and in co-operation with the Bundesamt for Sport in Magglingen. 

The World Summit stands under the patronage of UNESCO, the IOC and GAISF and aims to analyse and reflect on the current value of physical education and its potential for the education of young people from a national perspective and with an international comparison. 

The 1st  World Summit on Physical Education took place in 1999 in Berlin. 

The 2nd World Summit on Physical Education will be led by Professor Dr. Gudrun Doll Tepper, President of the International Council.  Amongst the ten leading Scientific Advisors participating will be Uwe Puehse, Basel Representative of Swiss Sport Science.  Representing the organisation from Magglingen is Walter Mengisen.
