2007-06-09

33,000 runners. That means that only 7,000 bibs are left for the race on September 30th. As in previous years the participation limit is at 40,000. “We are happy about the enormous interest of runners in the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON. This seems to be even stronger than last year. Everyone who wants to run in Berlin should register very soon,” says Race Director Mark Milde.

Never before so many runners had registered already four months before the race. Last year the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON had 39,466 runners, while 2005 had been the record year with an entry figure of 39,723. In 2006 the race was the fifth biggest marathon behind New York, Chicago, London and Paris.

With its fast and attractive course and the unique finish at the Brandenburg Gate the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON is a worldwide classic. For top athletes it is a very attractive race as well, not least since the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON is part of the World Marathon Majors (WMM) together with Boston, London, Chicago and New York. Last year Haile Gebrselassie (Ethiopia) ran the year’s fastest time of 2:05:56 at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON.
