Our technical or better logistics department, consisting of seven employees, is responsible for everything that has to do with technical matters and the infrastructure along the course. A lot of the work is spent on the planning of the start and finish area or the course. Detailed plans must be created - not only for internal purposes, but also for authorizations and third party services. In these plans any electricity, water and telephone connection is drawn to scale, each tree and bollards marked. All structures for BMW BERLIN MARATHON, such as the start gate or the TV compound are therein stated to scale. But also all orders of utilities such as barriers, toilet cubicles, water and food for the participants, and the cleaning of all used areas as well as the hanging of the sponsor banner are part of the job of this department.

Total of 7 km banners are hung on Saturday and Sunday across Berlin by the technical department and their supporters. Until the start and finish area is operational, approximately 300 people are employed at various jobs. From Thursday morning to Saturday noon, when everything is ready, pass around 1,500 hours of work. All this, that the approximately 60,000 participants of the marathon, the inline skater and the mini-marathon runners, have a memorable race with a grand finale at the Brandenburg Gate.

The teardown will be much faster, within 20 hours the Straße des 17. Juni will be handed over to the city of Berlin again.
